QUALITY MANAGEMENT
Quality a 360 Degree View
Infospectrum’s Center of Excellence takes a holistic view towards Quality as the centerpiece of our business partnership approach with clients. We are CMMI-certified so our management approach, processes, and organizational roles & responsibilities as they relate to Quality are integrated throughout the entire software development lifecycle as well as incorporated in each lifecycle phase.
Our comprehensive Quality Management approach is scaleable to support a range of efforts from small engineering projects to large product development and release programs. It can include:
- Quality Plan for the project or program and, as required, for each sub-project defining how quality will be managed and measured.
- Peer reviews and independent key checkpoint reviews throughout the development lifecycle to ensure efforts meet functional and technical requirements, schedule and budgetary cost objectives.
- Definitized agreement with clients on capabilities to be delivered and metrics to be achieved, including key elements such as stress testing, performance testing, and platform testing. We find these are often overlooked during the development planning and design phases but can have a critical impact on product/software release and your end-customer’s satisfaction.
- Post-release support and documentation, as applicable, such as Beta and General Availability (GA) release support, configuration management and change control, functional and technical documentation, training materials, system administration and performance tuning aids, installation guide development, Help Desk and Maintenance Service Level Agreement (SLA) support, and on-site customer support.
- Clear definition of metrics, tracking, and regular reporting for on-going monitoring of client expectations and Infospectrum team service levels.
Alignment with Our Clients’ Expectations – Consistency of Standards and Applications
We bring our Quality standards and extensive experience to each project or development program, and align our efforts with our clients’ Quality processes, deliverables and expectations. We think this is critically important for consistency of applications and standards and to effectively operate as an extension of your own engineering, product development or IT organization. We think this is especially important in areas such as:
- Software or product development lifecycle management.
- Software component development, peer review, testing approach, and tools
- Technical architecture
- Hardware platforms
- Data communications
- Operating systems
- Standards
- Documentation
- Naming conventions
- Development best practices
- Large complex software development efforts, and particularly those that include integration of multiple technologies or integration of multiple supplier products and development efforts.
Quality Plan – It’s Our Commitment
Infospectrum works with each client to develop and jointly agree on a Quality Plan for each engineering project, major project development, or after-market product maintenance and support program.

Infospectrum’s Quality Plan and strong project management approach includes a formalized risk management approach. Risk management includes the early identification, aggressive action, and tracking of risk mitigation or corrective actions to reduce potential risk issues – including both environmental and project execution risks. Risks that could affect the overall effort are identified and their characteristics documented during the Quality Plan development and project planning stage. A contingency plan is decided upon for each risk, and is conveyed to all the stakeholders. Infospectrum has a baseline risk management template that can be adapted to individual client’s risk management approach, as necessary. Our template includes environmental and technical risks as well as a method for documenting project-specific risks and mitigation plans determined during the initial project planning and Quality Plan development phase.
Independent Software Testing & Validation Services
In contrast to new software development projects, some of our clients use Infospectrum’s Center of Excellence and our Quality & Test Lab to provide specific independent test and validation services. For example, Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) will significantly reduce development costs and improve quality by outsourcing testing such as functional and integration testing, stress/performance testing, platform and installation testing, and product upgrade/compatibility testing. Depending on the type of testing service required, we use a wide variety of automated test tools or human-driven “use case” test processes, as appropriate, and operate as an extension of your development and test environment.
Infospectrum can help you test your software independently and ensure that you deliver robust, reliable, and high availability products to your end-customers. Our third party independent testing can help you reduce time to market or reduce time to release an application or set of integrated applications within an organization. This can significantly reduce the cost of ownership or cost of product development while enhancing quality and end-customer satisfaction.
