MOBILE & WIRELESS APPLICATIONS
In recent years, there has been explosive interest in wireless and mobile computing applications and related technologies impacting a diverse set of industries from communications, to manufacturing and distribution, and even large asset/public infrastructure security management and tracking.
Communications providers must deliver broadband Internet, VOIP, secure networking and real-time video services to business and government clients with real-time communications needs, and in some of the world’s harshest or most remote locations. Advances in 3GPP/Long Term Evolution (LTE) and emerging WiMax technologies promise to meet objectives such as delivering higher data rates, higher quality services levels, and improved system optimization with less expensive infrastructure.
In other industries, manufacturers, distributors, asset managers, and logistic service providers look to various types of wireless and mobile technologies to enable enterprise and supply chain efficiencies, cost reductions, inventory and product tracking, sales force automation and other business applications. Other emerging applications include “electronic pedigree” tracking to trace parts, consumer goods, and even bio-pharma applications such as tracing prescription drugs back to origins of production. Still other uses include public infrastructure security such as port and marine transportation management, global shipping container tracking and many other business and security-oriented applications.
Advances in Radio Frequency identification (RFID) technology and more cost effective deployment methods in certain environments are only increasing the level of interest in wireless and mobile computing applications. With the help of commercial industry and Government mandates, active/ passive RFID technologies, Smartphone, and PDA computing are finding more and more uses and acceptance in the continuing evolution of wireless and mobile device technology.
Meanwhile, more traditional barcoding and wireless devices continue to be deployed in a variety of manufacturing, distribution, and service-oriented business environments.
Real Solutions: We Make A Difference
Infospectrum has developed significant technical expertise, software product development, and processing expertise to support customers with a wide range of wireless and mobile computing applications.
At our Center of Excellence, Infospectrum has specialized experience in developing 3GPP/LTE and WiMax communications-related operations support systems, business support systems, network device and soft switch interfaces, as well as signal and call control devices.
Infospectrum also has a long history in real-time business process automation using Smartphone-based applications, mobile data collection (i.e. PDA, hand-held, lap top computers, RF devices, and barcode technology), as well as wireless and RFID applications for a variety of service, manufacturing, and supply chain processes such as receiving, inventory and replenishment, putaway/picking, shipping and distribution.
With our significant R&D and engineering expertise, Infospectrum has been an early pioneer in mobile and wireless computing combining our proven software/product development capability with an experienced service-oriented approach to deliver practical solutions for today’s business, tracking and security requirements.
Over the years, Infospectrum has been dedicated to providing the highest quality mobile and wireless computing applications to our clients. Our products have been developed in our Center of Excellence to deliver the following types of benefits
- Real-time data.
- Accessibility.
- Search and cross-referencing capability.
- Configurable for individual client and user needs.
- Data feedback back to the sources/enterprise computer.
- Tracking and real-time location.
Infospectrum has experience in performing joint development with our client’s engineering teams, or providing complete turn-key projects ready for our client’s acceptance testing. Our engineers have consistently demonstrated the ability to quickly learn our client’s development environment and tools, or, depending on the project, use our own CMMI-certified processes and tools. In either case, our engineers have become key members of every project they have supported.
We have several alternative approaches for supporting our clients. Mobile and wireless applications can be developed in our Center of Excellence, using Infospectrum’s development environment and laboratories. Alternatively, Infospectrum can utilize our client’s development environment via high speed connections or VPN links to our client’s facilities and use “virtual” collaborative development processes. Still other development approaches call for our engineers or engineering teams to work on-site at the client’s facilities as part of their engineering team. It is also possible that a combination of approaches can be tailored to support the individual client’s requirements.
But overall, Infospectrum can ramp project resources quickly, leverage our extensive knowledge of mobile and wireless computing in order to shorten development cycles, and deliver at the same or better quality while providing significant savings for small and large efforts. Our goal is to help clients’ get their product to market quickly or help businesses successfully accomplish their improvement initiatives to gain greater efficiencies through wireless and mobile computing.
